Tenant FAQ » About Member Services
A rental application is a way for the landlord to organize the applicants that they have, and also to give them the information to run credit and background checks. A rental application is NOT the same as a lease, and you re not bound to anything by filling out an application. It is just a way for you to show interest in an apartment and «get your foot in the door, » so to speak. Offering to submit a rental application is often the best way to show the landlord that you are interested in the apartment, and to show that you think that you are well suited as a tenant.
Rental applications ask for information to personally identify you, such as your full name and any name changes that you might have had, last / current address, drivers license, personal / professional and landlord references, number of family members, number of pets, and any other information that they feel is relevant to accepting you as a tenant.
It is important that you be completely truthful when filling out a rental application, or else you risk termination of your lease, possibly with a penalty or fine, and an unappealing credit report if your landlord finds out.
