What is the typical timeframe for finding an apartment? How can I be certain that I will find an apartment in time to move?

Tenant FAQ » About Member Services

There is no way to be absolutely certain about finding an available apartment since the market is always changing, but if you have good credit and rental history there is no reason that you should not be able to find an acceptable apartment within as little as three days. Most of our clients find a rental within a week.

The best thing that you can do to maximize your chances of finding a good apartment is to call up every apartment that catches your eye, and visit everything that looks promising. Meeting with the landlord for a quick tour of the property usually doesn't cost anything but time, so be sure to let the landlord know that you're interested by asking to see the grounds.

When you do meet the landlord be sure to dress appropriately and maintain a professional, yet friendly, attitude. Remember, you and the landlord will be entering into a business deal together, so you need to let them know that you intend to hold up your part of the bargain.

Rental applications are also a good way to let the landlord know that you are serious about renting. A rental application can cost anywhere from $20 to $30, but it is a great way to put you high on the list of prospective tenants.
